The mission of the Whittier Elementary School Specialists is to ensure the educational success of all students by providing classroom support through the modeling of assessments, lesson planning, instruction, the coaching of teachers as they implement the models of good teaching, and by supporting students to meet district standards through whole class, small group, and individual instruction.

Literacy Team Vision and Mission Statement

Vision - All Whittier students become competent, literate, life-long learners.

Mission: Identify students through multiple measures, to provide targeted small group intervention in reading and math, in order to close the achievement gap and ensure all students an opportunity to succeed. Literacy teachers are available to coach, model, and co-teach with classroom teachers in support of student success.

Speech and Language 

We the Kindergarten Teachers are a collaborative team of highly qualified professionals who build a foundation and promote life-long love of learning by being committed to the success of all students and providing them with challenging, fun, and safe learning experiences.

The mission of the First Grade Teachers is to inspire students to have a love of life-long learning, to create a safe learning environment for students, to teach students the importance of learning, to set goals, and to intrinsically motivate all students.  

We the teachers of Second Grade collaborate, share ideas, and learn to ensure educational success of all children to show growth and attain proficiency in math facts, to show progress in fluency, reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills.

Whittier Elementary’s Third Grade Teachers provide all students with opportunities to become successful learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens.  Our high expectations foster the successful transition from learning to read to reading to learn

As Fourth Grade educators we make a difference in students’ lives by equipping them with the skills they need to be successful life-long learners.  Students are empowered to master math facts, be creative writers, enthusiastic readers, and make healthy life choices. 

Whittier Elementary School Fifth Grade Teachers and Specialists provide all students with opportunities to reach their greatest potential.  We have high expectations to promote academic achievement and social responsibility in a kind, safe and respectful environment.
